From 26.02. to 28.02. in the classroom of the “Gavroche” Association internal training was organized for the team on the topic “New methods for work with children at risk”, the trainer being Assoc. Prof. Penka Sotyanova, PhD. The training is part of the planned activities on the project “Safer environment for children at risk in Varna” financed by the OAK Foundation – Switzerland.

On 27.02. second-year students majoring in “Social affairs” in the College of medicine-Varna donated a washing machine to “Gavroche” which they had bought with money from the charity “Christmas sale” organized by them, at which they sold souvenirs specially made for the event. By selling the souvenirs the students managed to raise the money needed for purchasing the washing machine and for sweets as well. We are very grateful for their initiative!

In December 2012 and January 2013 in “Gavroche” we enjoyed various events with foreign and Bulgarian volunteers as part of the International students’ organization AIESEC. Among them there were students from Brazil, Guatemala and other countries and cultures interesting for the children. In January the “Norbekov” club in Varna organized for the children a 7-day training on their system. To do this they opened a special donor’s account which paid for the trainer and the gifts for the children.

On 02.12. the mayor of “Primorski” area Mrs. Petya Prodanova gave the Association a Christmas tree as part of the initiative “Let’s decorate, plant and grow together a pine-tree”. After the holidays the tree was planted in the yard of “Gavroche”. At the start of December the children from the Shelter and the Center for work with children in the street Centre for work with street children took part in the festive tree decoration on ‘Independence” square. On Septemeber 29-30, 2012 National centre "Gavroshovtsi", Elenski Balkan, held a workshop event of sharing experience between the field teams from the "Gavroche" shelter and the Alliance for children and youth from Sofia. The main topics for discussion were: issues and perspectives of the field work with the kids, prevention of violence, exploiting experience of others and applying it to the real situations.

In September the Norbekov club, Varna and hotel "Joya park" have organized a trip to the Aquapolis in Golden sands for the kids from the shelter and the Centre for work with children on the street. The fun in the aquarium was followed by a nice nutritious meal.
