From 23 to 25 September in the National centre “Gavroche children” in the Elena Balkan mountain a meeting for exchange of experience was held between the “Gavroche” Association and the “Children and young people” Association as part of implementing the project “A safer environment for children at risk from Varna”, financed by the OAK Foundation-Switzerland. During the summer vacation Gavroche accepted volunteers from the Youth volunteer office again. The young people helped the team in organizing enjoyable games, walks and competitions with the children. In the summer months we met also foreign volunteers through the organizations AIESEC and OXAB.

In the summer months there were organized camps for the children from the Shelter and Centre for work with street children in the National centre “Gavroche children” in the Elena Balkan mountain. During the day the children had the chance to hike in the green forests, pick up herbs and flowers and get familiar with the environment. The evenings, in the surrounding of the silent mountain, turned into noisy entertainment events and mask balls that ended with fireworks.

For the occasion of 1 June for all children attending CWCS an enjoyable party was held which started with the juggles of Arsen and then the incredible dances of the Cheerleaders of TU-Varna. The children ate a delicious cake provided for their holiday by Mrs. Tsvetanka Kovacheva – lecturer in TU. They received also plenty of sweets, balloons and gifts. The event went on with smiles and games.

For the Day of children in the Shelter we met our cheerful guests from the group “Pink glasses”. After games with soap bubbles, drawing on asphalt and a singing competition with drums, the children could feel they really had a holiday. After the competitions they ate a delicious cake and, of course, they received pink glasses.
