For the Day of Bulgarian culture and Slavic alphabet the children in the Shelter had a delicious snack provided by the Rectors of universities in Varna – the Technical university, the University of Economics, Varna Open university and the University of medicine, owing to Mrs. Tsvetanka Kovacheva, a lecturer in the Technical university. The gesture of the educational institutions in Varna was highly appreciated by the children and the Gavroche team.

On 13 May the children accommodated in the Shelter had the chance to go for free to the University botanical garden in Eco-park Varna. They spent their time playing enjoyable games in the open, got familiar with the plants, had a picnic and then they had a walk in the ‘St. St. Konstantine and Elena” resort and ate delicious ice-cream in the “Rosa” snack-bar.

On 3 April children from the Shelter had the pleasure to go to the 3D film “Oz – the great and powerful”. Every week on Monday and Wednesday the children from CWCS and the Shelter take part in kick-box practice lead by Krasimir Kirilov and Vladimir Valev.

In March there started a training in swimming for the children accommodated in the Shelter of the “Gavroche” Association. The classes were held in the “Dolphins” swimming pool and the money for them were provided by the ”Norbekov” Club-Varna. In the weekends of March there started also classes in unconventional drawing lead by Mrs. Tanya Kostadinova. The children got familiar with oils and created their own masterpieces with plenty of colors.

From 26.02. to 28.02. in the classroom of the “Gavroche” Association internal training was organized for the team on the topic “New methods for work with children at risk”, the trainer being Assoc. Prof. Penka Sotyanova, PhD. The training is part of the planned activities on the project “Safer environment for children at risk in Varna” financed by the OAK Foundation – Switzerland.

On 27.02. second-year students majoring in “Social affairs” in the College of medicine-Varna donated a washing machine to “Gavroche” which they had bought with money from the charity “Christmas sale” organized by them, at which they sold souvenirs specially made for the event. By selling the souvenirs the students managed to raise the money needed for purchasing the washing machine and for sweets as well. We are very grateful for their initiative!
